and provides a challenge for all, it is beautifully maintained
and features lakes, ravines, tree- lined fairways, billiard-table
greens and incredible views in all directions.
The sporting and leisure options are extensive with the following

Other Attractions
If
you can draw yourself away from le Chardon d'or, and the wider
Domaine you will discover a wealth of opportunities for all tastes
in Provence. Mountain villages
such as Gordes, Lourmarin, L’isle
sur la Sorgue and
many more offer fascinating architecture and endless shopping and
eating
venues. The cities of Avignon, Marseille and Aix
en Provence are
all well worth a visit. St Remy, Les Baux and
the breathtaking Pont du Gard are all within a
short drive indeed all of the above can be reached by car in less
than 35mins.
For the more adventurous (45-120 mins) there is the glamour of Monaco, Nice, Cannes, St
Tropez, and the many other attractions
of the Cote
d’Azur. Smaller and near to home is the pretty port
and beach at Cassis and the unspoilt Camargue nature
reserve with its famous wild horses. From the coast around Cassis
you can take a number of
short boat trips to small Mediterranean islands
with beaches and vegetation that is more Caribbean than south of
France.
The ski
resorts of the Southern Alps and cities such
as Lyon and Grenoble are other
options.
There are many local wine producers including the
very acceptable Chateau Pont Royal however a wine
expedition starting in the ancient town of Orange (45
mins) following the Rhone northwards to Chateauneuf
du Pape and the many other wine villages close by is a pleasure
not to be missed. In a 10 mile stretch you will discover enough tasting
opportunities to fill the entire holiday.
When you arrive at the house you will find various guides to help
you get the most from your Provencal experience, however if you would
like to pre-plan there are a number of websites on the links page
of our website and inexpensive books available in many stores.
